Spring 26' Collection Blog
This collection feels more meaningful than the work we’ve done previously because it's been through the support of every person that has believed in our mission from the jump that has led to where we are now. When we started, it was our friends and family that supported by showing up to our events and by purchasing our products. Since day one this has served as a consistent reminder that if anybody ever supports this brand by either giving us their time or their hard earned money then there's definitely no excuse as to why we shouldn't keep giving this thing every-fuckin thing we got. In the beginning we didn't know what we were doing and today we have a clearer understanding of who we are, what our mission is, and most importantly how to get there.
Today the brand has grown to be bigger and as of recently we’ve been blessed with fulfilling orders to people in other states. Now they've become apart of this community and will help to further grow the culture we're creating together. The magnitude of what we’ve always believed to be true is just beginning. This is the start of something greater and because of this we’re taking this upcoming collection very serious.
For context of what this spring collection means allow me to bring you back to February 20th 2026. This is the night Hilo de Cahue and Mercado Goods launched our collaborative collection. Coming off that release I look back and I realize we both worked so hard because we were trying to create what we wanted to see in fashion. We both truly understood what it means to be a brand in today's age and demanded more from the current state of fashion.
Realizing this I wanted to take a step back and take some time to think and understand "what is next for this brand?" But also where am I as a person. So in typical Gerardo Mercado fashion I allowed myself to experience life. and I know that probably sounds funny to say because like "what do you mean you allowed yourself to experience life? how does that make sense if we're living right now?" However my philosophy is we're consistently so bombarded with work and other responsibilities that we forget to just chill out and enjoy the ride.
Knowing inspiration tends to strike in the most random moments I began my journey by appreciating my vinyl collection more. Listening to The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill over and over again I realized I need to approach this collection the same way Lauryn hill approached her album. With complete passion, love, and vulnerability. But my story was still unclear. So I continued my journey by learning how to mix my vinyl records. This led to my friends teaching me how to Dj. Which led to me going out more. Then suddenly "AH HA" It clicked and I realized how to approach this upcoming spring collection.
It must be all green! Because this winter felt like a real kick in the nuts. Feeling the sun on my skin just makes me feel like I’m thawing out and the human in me is starting to become more present. Paired with hanging out with friends and family, it's what I look forward to the most. That's the emotion I hope to convey with this collection. That's also why everything in this collection is green. Because it’s a symbol for growth and health. After seeing nothing but snow and sticks it's good to finally see some greenery.
